In August, we were delighted to get the chance to host a World of Work tour at the wonderful Joules head office in Market Harborough. This allowed our YES Project participants to get an insight into the different roles that make Home | Joules Group plc a great place to work.
“It was intriguing and eye opening because of the amount of different roles actually available within a retail company.”

A breath of fresh air
On arrival, both staff and participants straight away were impressed with the facility and were made to feel extremely welcome at reception. One of the first things noticed by the group was the multi-faith room downstairs where YES participants commented straight away about what a great thing that is to have at a workplace. Walking through the spacious offices and seeing the many different teams at work clearly displayed that the almost brand-new building was a great place for people to come to daily. Participants loved finding out about the cycle to work scheme and access to showers before work, the cosy areas scattered around the offices, the multi-faith room, the canteen area and were really happy about the fact there were unisex toilets across the building which shows the company are moving forward with the times.
Questions & Answers
After viewing the great facilities Joules have to offer their staff, the participants were invited to sit in a meeting room where they received a short presentation about the company and had the opportunity to ask any questions. A huge shout out to Jessica Davies – Engagement and Inclusion Manager and Jerilee Foster – Communications and Engagement Assistant for taking the time to show us around the building and answer all questions thrown at them. Whether it was answers about the history of the company, their own career paths, the different departments and roles within the company, they answered it. It was also brilliant to be joined by Lyn Warren – Retail and People Director who also spent time with our participants and answered questions regarding equality and diversity whilst inspiring them with her own personal career story. I personally feel it was great to hear the young people come out of their shells and ask more and more questions as the Joules team made them feel more comfortable and appreciated so I thank you on behalf of the Leicestershire Cares team.
“The staff challenged any preconceptions I may have had about the company and it was a really eye opening and modern environment, was great to see a multi-faith room” – YES Participant
