Virtual Champions meeting

On Wednesday 23rd of September, we had our very first virtual Champions meeting. We had the opportunity to present a variety of awards to our various business members who have supported our projects over the lockdown and more, see full list below.

Champion's Champion Award

Presented to:

Sally Romankiw from Samworth Brothers – Walkers Deli & Sausage

For her sterling effort in supporting Leicestershire Cares in various ways. She has been brilliant at rallying colleagues to support pupils within Secondary Schools to give mock interviews, she coordinated supplying food to be sent to those in need, she shared her expertise and ran an online webinar on the benefits of PR for VCSE’s and showed personal commitment through making and donating safety masks for our participants. Sally has gone above and beyond to ensure nobody is left behind.

Education Volunteer of the Year 2019-20

Keeley Jefferies

We were delighted to present Keeley Jeffries with our Education Volunteer of the Year award for 2019-20. As well as being a Go For Reading volunteer, Keeley volunteered for multiple speedy speaker and mock interview events last academic year. During the lockdown, Keeley went above and beyond helping us deliver webinars, videos and thinking of new ways to support students learning from home to continue exploring different careers.
