Powering Up Football and Walker & Son

4 Feb 2025

It’s a cold chilly evening in January. Who really wants to be out playing football when you can see your own breath, slip on the turf and need to wear gloves, hats and jackets? Well, a team of hardy souls from Walker and Son for start off, not to mention another 40 young men who came to the UK as unaccompanied asylum-seeking children and just love football. Skills and thrills, goals galore and plenty of chat is what makes Powering Up Football so popular. It also gives a chance to get to know individuals and seek to help them on their employment journeys with education and training advice, but all of it from the initial friendship that football enables.

The Champions League new format might have had an exciting evening on TV but for football fans there is nothing like the real thing. Thanks to Walker and Son for partnership with us at Leicestershire Cares to do something together which is fun, social and educational.
