Power to change Conference - Community development

4 Dec 2024

2024 marked the first year that Leicestershire cares have hosted its own Conference under the title of Power to change. As a member of the power to change project community development team my job on the day was to deliver a workshop on the importance of capturing outcomes though media and how we can do so in a engaging way for a new generation and to keep with the times and be able to showcase your work on social media, organise a feedback live podcast, and a group of our youth participants performance, which unfortunately didn’t go to plan as there was some technical issues with the sound however you can listen to the Power to change song POWER TO CHANGE SONG to turn a bad into a positive it was great learning curve for the young performers that things don’t always go to plan and sometimes you have to improvise.

Workshop Capturing outcomes though media with around 15 – 20 people and attending went down a storm as we demonstrated the importance of using digital media within our sector and how it can help capture unforeseen outcomes but also highlight the outcomes we intended to achieve, with feedback from some of our youth participants we were able to give first-hand experience and knowledge on the subject, this workshop ended with a Q&A with myself (Aaron) and John Coster from Doc Media, where we talked about how media has changed and how we can take advantage of it to enhance our work.

CONFERENCE AUDIO FEEDBACK

Overall, the event went well and considering it was Leicestershire Cares first conference the whole team came together and really put the work in to deliver a momentous day for the community, business, and youth sector.

It is at this point that I would like to thank all our young people who came and got involved with the event from taking photos to event marshalling.
