We are delighted to be working in partnership with Reaching People on their excellent Refurb project. The project basically asks companies and peoples to donate old laptops, tablets and mobile phones. They collect them, wipe them clean, upgrade if required and hand onto someone who needs digital access, and also ensure they are supported to learn how to use them.
What I love about this project , is it is such a simple and eco friendly way of helping people get digital access and we are committed to encouraging all our business partners to support this wonderful initiative
Kieran Breen CEO Leicestershire Cares
As we discovered during lock down, to access many forms of help and support or to apply for jobs, education or training courses, you increasingly need to be online and sadly many poorer people and families are not , which adds to their exclusion.
It’s at no cost to business, its secure and we have the necessary WEEE licences, we don’t just donate the devices, we make sure people are trained/coached and have the skills to use them. We only donate to those who wouldn’t otherwise be able to afford a device

If you are interested in supporting this great project
Requirements:
- Laptops. Ideally, less than 10 years old. However, we do accept older laptops on a case-by-case basis. Chargers appreciated.
- Tablets. Working, undamaged, and running at least Android version 8 or an iPad 5th generation model. Chargers appreciated.
- Smartphones. Working, undamaged, minimum Android version 8 or iPhone 6. Chargers appreciated. If the donated device is locked to a network, we need to know which network.
- Other. We may be able to take other tech where we know organisations that could use it e.g., desktops (mainly because we don’t have space to store it). This would need to be agreed in advance.
