Despite school closures and nationwide lockdowns, this year we engaged with 2,201 students through a variety of online employability events thanks to our wonderful volunteers who stepped up with enthusiasm and flair.
Volunteers from 18 companies and several individuals offered their support with online careers talks, careers webinars, Q & As, Ask the Expert Sessions, CV workshops and virtual work tours, and the following four companies showed outstanding contribution to employability:
Joules
Thermo Fisher Scientific
DNV
Rock Kitchen Harris
In the summer term, business volunteers from DNV participated in an Enterprise Day, CV workshops and Speedy speakers, whilst last year, volunteers from Joules, Rock Kitchen Harris and Thermo Fisher Scientific recorded themselves giving interview hints and tips, advice on writing a good CV and how to write a cover letter which we used as part of a virtual employability pack to help teachers continue to link students with local businesses.
Volunteers also recorded themselves giving Speedy Speaker careers talks that were shared with all secondary schools across the city and county to help students develop their employability skills whilst they were studying at home.
We would like to thank all our wonderful volunteers for their support and commitment over the past eighteen months.
We’re now recruiting for employability events coming up this term. Please see more info here Employability | Leicestershire Cares
