In preparation for our Power to Change conference last year, the Altogether now team supported a group of 6 SEND young people to develop their skills required to support the event as our Event Marshals.
The training session included Role Playing a number of different scenarios they may encounter on the day, such as:
- Meeting and greeting guests
- Registering guests
- Giving directions
- Answering questions
- Starting conversations
- Collecting in resources
- Wishing a fond farewell
On the day our Marshals really were the stars of the show, They really looked the part in their Purple vests and thoroughly excelled in their roles which also included:
- Setting up the rooms
- Putting up signage
- Handing out gift bags
- Collecting in Pledge cards and lanyards
- Cleaning up post event
At Leicestershire Cares, we are always looking for positive ways to prepare our young people for the world of work and bring them opportunities which allows them to develop their skill sets and grow in confidence.
