The Altogether Now Project held a Halloween themed Dragon's Den group session last week, whereby attendees flexed their creative skills carving out their designs and ideas on their pumpkins before pitching their ideas to our guest "Dragons" Jenny Hailes, Everards Brewery and Nicola Bryan from Voluntary Action Leicester.
For many young people, Public speaking or presenting their ideas is challenging, low confidence and heightened levels of anxieties can be a big barrier. Group activities like these help our young people to over come their barriers and develop skills that are vital for their progression in to the world of work. It gives them an opportunity to socialise, discuss and share ideas whilst offering peer-peer support, reassurance and encouragement.
A big thank you to our Participants and our Dragon's for their efforts and enthusiasm, they were all amazing designs and the Dragon's had an almost impossible task to decide our winners. A huge well done to Lauren and Jack who secured the winning votes.
An extra thank you is extended to Jenny Hailes for her donation of a Leicester Riders vest for the winner!
I felt very mindful whilst carving my pumpkin and really enjoyed that it brought the group all together. I felt very confident about discussing my ideas and thoughts to the judges and found them to be very supportive.

It was great to see and hear the young people - some of whom had never met before- develop their creative and communication skills, whilst explaining their chosen pumpkin designs, why they had chosen that design and what they would change or do differently. The hardest part for me was helping to choose a winner and runner up
