Leicestershire Cares Newsletter Edition 2

10 Oct 2024

As I reflect on our work over the last six months, my overwhelming feeling is just how much can be achieved when business, community, young people and the public sector work together so that everybody can thrive. Our city and county continue to face many challenges, record levels of children living in poverty, lack of housing, and many struggling to pay their food and utility bills. Yet,
every day through our work, I see examples of people coming together to offer support and to tackle these issues. This might vary from helping at a foodbank, providing football sessions for asylum seeking young people, or providing isolated and vulnerable young people with opportunities to develop their employability skills. All of these efforts help turn despair into hope, and enable young people and communities to take action, bringing about positive change. As you read this newsletter, you will see examples of what this looks like in action. I hope that this encourages you to consider getting involved in our work in a ‘hands on’ way by volunteering on one of our projects. You will be amazed at just how much you can learn and achieve in a day.

I hope that you enjoy this newsletter and as always, welcome your feedback.
