We were delighted to present John Neat of Walker and Son, Samworth Brothers with our prestigious volunteer of the year award. The award recognises the efforts and creativity of a business volunteer who has made a significant contribution to our work with communities and young people. There was an outstanding group of nominees for the award and in presenting the award to John, Kieran Breen our CEO highlighted:
Quite simply John is an inspiration who lives and breathes the spirit of volunteering and giving back. Be it supporting unaccompanied asylum seekers to enjoy a game of football , getting stuck into team challenge to provide a safe green space for people with mental health issues or encouraging his colleagues to volunteer. John is a living proof of what we can achieve when we decide to offer a helping hand up and a supportive shoulder to those experiencing tough times
