It was great to have such a lively and interactive group. They did so well.
Street Doctors volunteer
The knowledge of how to deal with a medical emergency is something everyone should be equipped with, our team at Leicestershire Cares partnered with Street Doctors, to provide 16 of our young people across our Community Development and Children and Young people projects, with essential first aid training, covering not only CPR but also how to manage rapid bleeding such as stabbings and gunshot wounds.
Our young people, through a number of interact tasks and role-play, learnt:
- The roles and function of all our vital organs
- How to recognise the stages of rapid blood loss
- How to Stem bleeding
- How to call for help
- Recognising concussion
- How and when to place someone in the recovery position
- Life saving CPR
Street Doctors is an award winning national charity, that aim to empower young people to keep themselves and others safe; ultimately saving lives. Thank you to our health professional volunteers Lizzy and Elle, who delivered a fantastic workshop and gave our young people the opportunity to practise these vital skills.
Great workshop, really clear information and I found the practical tasks really helpful.
