Leicestershire Cares PUP team continue to support Leicestershire County Councils leaving care team with their leaving cares Parents group to bring new opportunities to those that are care experienced. The group supports parents as they navigate their way through parenthood and aims to provide a peer to peer social group as well as a support network from the personal advisors. All whilst giving the individual family units the opportunity to experience new adventures and making memories.
In December, 27 parents and their children visited The Gruffalo Discovery centre at Twycross Zoo for their Christmas show and a visit to see Santa, not forgetting a walk around the zoo visiting the animals before a picnic lunch.
A great time was had by all and we are thankfully for our working partnership with Leicestershire County Councils Leaving care team and our Powering Up Project Funders, Esmee Fairbairn, as with out their ongoing support day trips such as this would not be possible.
It was a great day and the kids loved seeing Santa and joining in with the Christmas show.
