Our Community Development Team is proud to announce the fantastic results of this year's #BagsOfHope Campaign, which took place during the 2023 festive period.
This amazing project takes place every year and aims to transform despair into hope for communities that are in danger of being left behind. By collaborating with our business members, local authorities, and community partners, #BagsOfHope sees bags filled with essential items and festive treats being delivered to countless people throughout Leicester and Leicestershire.
The festive period can be a difficult time for those in vulnerable or disadvantaged parts of the city and county. With risks of social isolation, pressures from the festive period, and increased household bills in the winter, the vital support #BagsOfHope provides can make a powerful difference in people's lives.
This year, the Community Development Team set out to reach more communities than ever before. They worked tirelessly to make connections and meet community needs, working with a range of organisations from cultural centers to homelessness charities, young parents to church groups, and youth groups across the areas.
Leicestershire Cares would are proud to announce that 26 businesses donated a total of 932 bags, including food, toys, warm clothes and festive treats. The team have then worked within the community to deliver the bags to 29 different charities and organisations.
I cannot thank the businesses enough for their ongoing support for our campaign. Without you we would never have been able to deliver 932 bags to 29 community groups.
