RM joined Leicestershire Cares with the aim of enrolling in a CSCS course and improving his prospects. Prior to engaging with the project, RM had recently been released from prison. Having faced numerous challenges, RM had not considered further education as a viable option and was unsure how to approach His next steps.
The initial appointment introduced RM to the purpose of the VIP project and explored the areas where support was required. From the outset, RM demonstrated a clear sense of determination and focus on achieving her goals. The first step involved reviewing his CV, which had already been prepared previously. Guidance was provided to help RM refine and enhance the CV independently, ensuring it effectively showcased his skills and experiences.
To support RM progression, information about the requirements for the CSCS course was shared. This included the need to complete 2 mock tests, attend an initial appointment, and complete an induction. RM dedicated time to preparation and achieved full marks (45/45) on both mock test, demonstrating his commitment and capability.
Following this, RM was enrolled in the CSCS course, where her dedication and intelligence left a lasting impression on the instructors. he completed the course with high marks and demonstrated exceptional capability, which boosted his confidence.
Initially, RM had not been interested in further education and intended to focus solely on completing the CSCS course. However, the experience inspired him to explore new opportunities. After completing the course, he expressed interest in applying for a labour apprenticeship. Support was provided to assist him in writing a personal statement, and RM successfully completed the application process independently.
Reflecting on his academic achievements, which include 9 GCSEs graded A*-C, RM gained a renewed sense of motivation. He is now feels confident and enthusiastic about pursuing additional qualifications, which will help him achieve his long-term goals. RM journey is a testament to the transformative power of dedication and the right support system.
