VIP PROJECT CASE STUDY: K.F

14 Oct 2024

K.F. was referred to Leicestershire Cares for ETE support as a participant in the VIP programme. During the initial assessment, it became clear that K.F. was concerned about the incident which had led to his referral. K.F. was encouraged to be proactive to ensure that he was kept abreast of any changes. K.F. was also encouraged to actively engage in the support available through Leicestershire Cares and the wider VIP team to evidence that he is focused on turning his life and outcomes around.

K.F. participated in various employability and course search sessions. K.F attended a C.V session where he learned about the correct way to format a C.V and the correct information and wording to use in a professional C.V. During the session, K.F. was able to correctly identify areas of amendment on a poorly formatted C.V which was provided for demonstration purposes. K.F. also received an explanation on the importance of writing more formally when crafting a C.V. We also added his most recent job experience in a phone warehouse where K.F. was involved in adding software to mobile phones. At the end of the session, his C.V. was submitted to a business member for their feedback.

K.F. expressed that he was keen to get into the construction industry as he advised that is connected to people who can help him obtain employment in this industry. An application was submitted to the construction hub and K.F. was encouraged to complete two online mock induction tests which he did promptly.

K.F. was invited to participate in a practical estimation in construction course which he enjoyed. K.F subsequently attended his CSCS course and he is on track to obtaining a CSCS card. K.F. also received interview preparation support and was subsequently able to practice his learnings in a mock interview. K.F successfully secured a security job and he is now working towards securing a role in construction.

Since joining Leicestershire Cares, Chikodi has been a great help to me with altering my CV and making it better for future interviews. Chikodi has been a big help in finding jobs for me, as well as putting me on a CSCS course that would give me experience and, after the course is finished, help me get a job in construction. She has also helped me with my personal problems and gave my advice, which has set my mind at ease a little, so I’m not stressing about it too much and can focus on looking forward to doing something beneficial to help me with the problem I face and my future. She has given me a lot of useful information and opened my eyes to what careers I want to pursue and how to go about doing them
